Visiting Red Cross logistics centre in Las Palmas.

Members of CIIC and EVS Volunteers visited the International Federation of Red Cross, Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Spanish Red Cross logistics centre in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Canary Islands on the 10th and 11th of January 2013.

The centre was inaugurated by Queen Sofia and currently holds basic relief items such as blankets, family tents, water purification kits etc for approximately 20,000 people. The geographical situation of the Canary Islands and their proximity to Africa make the centre a key site from which to provide assistance to victims in emergencies.

The logistics centre has already been put to good use, they are involved with the floods in West Africa, plastic sheeting, water tanks, insecticide treated bed nets and blankets are being dispatched from Las Palmas to the flood survivors.

We really appreciate this visiting and seminar in Red Cross and we are looking for future cooperation.
